My favorite thing about these photos is how organic they are. I wanted to experiment with black and white film on my medium format camera so I brought my Pentax with me to my Great Uncle Shelton’s 80th birthday barbecue. I loaded the first roll right at the picnic table, pivoted, and snapped some shots. The photos came out so cinematic and smooth. And I’m especially grateful I was able to capture my baby cousin’s eye contact.
